Ladies Captain Charity December 2018 - Margaret Wilby (Ladies Captain) handing over a cheque for £535 to Chris from Blood Bikes, for which Chriss expressed his gratitude to the HVGC Ladies. Margaret says she is particularly proud of the Ladies Section for raising such a fabulous amount from so few generous ladies.

Euan Muttitt-Jones became the Midlands Golf Union U16 Champion of Champions on the 9th September 2018 -
Euan scored the lowest gross overall, beating the u18s, including plus handicappers and England golf players (Euan had a second round gross of 69)!

This comes on top of a win in the Regional Final of the Sky Sports Junior European Open Qualifying Round, held at Telford GC on 29th August, with a gross score of 74 (wow!). His prize is an all expenses paid trip to play in the Sky Sports Junior European finals, to be held in November at the Alcaidesa Links Resort, Cadiz, Spain! Huge congratulations to him from us all!

SHUGC County Youth Cahmpionship - Llanymynech GC - 12th August 2018 -
The 2018 SHUGC County Youth Champion is HVGC member Euan Muttitt-Jones.
Euan led the competition from the very start, and finished the 36 holes with a gross score of +2, with rounds of 68 and 74, 3 shots clear of the field.

HVGC Juniors win SHUGC Junior Handicap League 2018! 
- Burghill GC - 3rd August 2018
Horsehay Village Juniors won the County Junior Handicap League 2018! The semi-finals and finals were played at Burghill Valley on the 3rd August. The teams competing were Horsehay, The Herefordshire, Oswestry and Shifnal.
The team pictured below are l to r are: Luke Kelsey, Charlie Slater, Curtis Ritchie, Edward Muttitt-Jones, Euan Muttitt-Jones, Harry Slater, Joe Hedges.
Other team members not in the photo: Lewis Jameson, Nathan Bond, Jacob Horne.
As winners of this league, HVGC have the opportunity to compete in the English Junior Champion Club competition at Frilford Heath Golf Club on the 16th/17th August.


Captain's Day - 10th June 2018 - This years event was held in aid of our Club Captain's nominated charity. This year Alan Hobbs (Club Captain) chose the Shropshire and Staffordshire Blood Bikes, and representatives from the charity, along with bikes, attended on the day. COGNAC TROPHY - 9th June 2018 - Congratulations to the HVGC team pictured below
(l to r) Paul Howard, Nathan Bond (Junior) Martin Willis and Harold Hoof, for putting Horsehay Village Golf Club in the winners circle, yet again, at the annual Cognac Trophy team competition which this year was held at Ludlow Golf Club on Saturday the 9th June. The same HVGC team won last year on count back, and this year made sure of success, winning by an amazing 11 points.

HVGC Masters - 20th May 2018 - This two day competition had 42 entrants including 2 of our juniors. The first day cut (net 74) saw 22 competitors for the second day, which included one junior. At the end of the Competition, the top three scores were very close with Steve Bicker in third place, Wilf Brown second, but the winner and Masters Champion for 2018 with a brilliant score of net 133 over two rounds was our fifteen year old junior, Euan Muttitt-Jones.

Gurkha Trophy - 5th May 2018 - The Gurkha Trophy is an annual competition between Horsehay Village GC and Arscott GC. Two teams of twelve have played for this trophy for many years, and it is Arscott that usually win. But not this year. Our Gallant team, lead by the team captain Dave Griffiths, brought the trophy home, where we intend to keep it.

CAPTAIN'S DRIVE-IN - Photos from 10th March 2018



Ladies Captain's Charity 2017: On 14th December 2017 the Ladies Captain, Shirley West, presented a cheque for £425 to Tracey Watkins, who accepted the donation on behalf of the PRH Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer Support Group.

HVGC Juniors make clean sweep at 2017 Couny Handicap Championships
The SHUGC County Junior Championships were played at Shrewsbury Golf Club on
29th August 2017.
o HVGC Juniors won the Junior Shropshire Star Trophy.
o County Junior Handicap Champion was Nathan Bond.
o Lowest Gross and a hole-in-one for Euan Muttitt-Jones.

HVGC Triumph in 2017 Cognac Cup
Congratulations to the team pictured below (l to r) Paul Howard, Martin Willis (Club Captain), Nathan Bond (Junior), and Harold Hoof, for putting Horsehay Village Golf Club in the winners circle at the SHUGC Cognac Trophy competition at Kington Golf Club on 3rd June 2017. They won on countback from Telford GC.
The (huge) trophy can be seen in the trophy cabinet in the clubhouse.
